No Meeting of Calfee Garden Club in January 2026
January is a great time to set the stage for a successful Spring growing season.
Now that the Holiday rush is past, take some time this winter to:
Inventory seeds and consider what worked last season, what didn’t, and what deserves your valuable attention in the next growing season.
Clean and organize garden tools. Throw out the old. Order the new!
Learn something new. If you’ve always wanted to know more about native Virginia plants, now is the time to do the reading you haven’t had time for all summer.
Consider purchasing those large planters you’ve dreamed about…. mmmmm.
It’s not too late to finish mulching! But consider leaving that weedy patch for the pollinators to over-winter in their cozy hiding places.
Later in the month, try forcing some early branches for some indoor blooming beauty. Check your pussywillow for it’s winter beauty.
